Dear Editor,
Well Diwali 2013 has come and gone and all that is left is the shattered nerves of the old, the young and the poor defenceless animals who were all subjected to the unceasing barrage of bombs in the form of squibs. One could have been excused for thinking they were in Syria or Baghdad and not in Guyana supposedly celebrating the Festival of Lights.
Every year we are told that these devices are “illegal” and that the Police are “cracking” down on the importation and sale of them. Well given the hell that was unleashed on us Sunday night that approach ain’t working and we still have Christmas and Old Year’s to look forward to.
Yours faithfully,
Susan Isaacs
