Lower East Coast Bulls are at the top of the points standings after two rounds of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) O40 20 overs-a-side competition sponsored by Raj Singh Insurance Brokers and Trophy Stall.
The first round was washed out and in accordance with the playing conditions, each team was awarded one point.
Bulls received three bonus points in their second match against Georgetown Bears at the Lusignan Community Centre Ground. They copped two points for passing 175 runs after totalling 191 and one point for winning by more than 50 runs as Bears only managed 127/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Upper East Coast Tigers are second on the table with five points. They got the better of West Coast Demerara Seals at Everest Cricket Club ground in their second match scoring 128/6 and bowling out the Seals for 66, winning by 62 runs. As such, they got a bonus point for winning by a margin of more than 50 runs.
West Bank Demerara Mavericks and Lower East Bank Lions are yet to play a match but they are on two points each as both of their scheduled matches have been rained-out. Meanwhile, the Georgetown Buffaloes, Georgetown Bears and West Bank Demerara Seals are on one point each which was awarded to them for the rained-out first round.
The tournament continues today with four matches across the country. All matches are scheduled to bowl off at 13:00oohrs.
