Plaisance resident Brenda Beaton, described by police as a known shoplifter, found herself before a court yesterday after a tin of milk that she allegedly stole fell out of her skirt during a confrontation with a guard at a city supermarket.
Beaton, 59, pleaded not guilty when a simple larceny charge was read against her at the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Police Prosecutor Ramsahoye Rambajue told the court of Magistrate Fabayo Azore that on November 2nd, Beaton entered the Bounty Supermarket on Water Street and allegedly picked up a tin of Milex milk and hid it under her skirt.
Suspicious, a security guard confronted her and in the midst of the confrontation the tin of milk fell out of her skirt, Rambajue said.
Magistrate Azore fixed bail at $25,000 and adjourned the case to November 20.
