Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) on Monday scored a 54-run win over Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) as the Georgetown Cricket Association/Carib Beer first division T20 tournament continued. Playing at home, DCC chalked up 199 for 7 with Trevon “Bugsy” Griffith making the top score of 58 an innings which included four fours and four sixes. Skipper Christopher Barnwell clobbered five maximums and a four in his 44 while Andrew Lyght Jr. made 38, with two sixes and three fours.
Cordell Mars picked up 2 for 28, fast bowler Kellon Carmichael 2 for 35 and spinner Steven Sankar 2 for 36. In reply MSC stumbled to 145 for 7 off their 20 overs with Carmichael returning to craft an aggressive 64 which was decorated with five sixes and four fours. Sankar supported with an unbeaten innings of 34 while Nikose Barker made 20.
Paul Wintz, Dexter George and Totaram Bishun captured two wickets apiece.
