Registration for the upcoming seventh annual ‘Ride For Life’ five-stage cycle road race will close on Monday.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, registration can be done with National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed at his Middle Street office during normal working hours.
This year’s event is set to pedal off on November 14 with transportation for the cyclists and officials departing
the Main Street ministry office at 12:30pm on November 13.
The calendar cycling event which will cover a distance of approximately 266 miles (430km) will roll off from Berbice at 07:30hrs.
The initial stage will see the riders starting outside the Corriverton Police station before proceeding to Main and Alexander Streets, New Amsterdam, a distance of approximately 46.6s miles (75km).
The riders will then have some hours to rest and service their machines before the second stage commences at 2pm at Rosignol and proceeds to Carifesta Avenue in Georgetown for the finish, a distance of approximately 60.4s miles (96km).
Stage three will begin on November 15 from Wales Police Station at 9.30 hours and proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo, some 35 miles (56km).
Stage four will see the riders riding from Supenaam to Charity on November 16 from 07:30hrs for the longest leg of the event which is approximated at 67 miles (107.05km).
The event will then culminate on November 17 with the riders making their way from Kara Kara, Linden to Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown, approximately 64.6 miles (103.3km).
The cream of the nation’s wheelsmen such as inaugural winner Alanzo Greaves, road race champion, Raynauth Jeffrey, Geron Williams, Orville Hinds, Paul DeNobrega, Robin Persaud, Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams along with foreign riders are billed to compete in the grueling event.
