Machinery Corporat-ion of Guyana Ltd (MACORP) in collaboration with the Lusignan Golf Club, yesterday launched its 7th Annual Invitational Golf tournament, scheduled to tee-off tomorrow at the Lusignan Golf Course.
At the launch held at the MACORP head office, Dave Mohamed, Vice-President of the Lusignan Club expressed gratitude to
the machinery giants who have been the leading sponsors of the sport over a number of years.
Mohamed hinted that after the successful Digicel Open Cup which concluded last weekend, some of the international golfers extended their tickets so that they could contest this tournament.
Even as it celebrates its 20th anniversary in Guyana, Company CEO Jorge Medina said MACORP was pleased to support the development of golf here, and pledged to continue to provide assistance.
Medina said that this venture and others to come will help to propel tourism and create exposure to the sport.
Accounts Manager Angel Rueda, Marketing Manager Jordi Pinol and Marketing Assistant Damien Lewis, who organised the handing over of the trophies at the launch, said other prizes will also be given to participants at the tournament. The match is set to tee-off at 9.30am.
