A clash of titanic proportions is expected when St Pius tackles West Ruimveldt in the final of the Pee Wee U11 football tourney tomorrow at the Thirst Park ground at 4.00 pm.
Edging a determined East La Penitence side 2-0 on penalty kicks following a 0-0 score line at the end of normal and extra time, St Pius will look to an improved showing from the event’s leading striker Bevney Marks with 13 strikes, in combination with Marcus Wilson and Kamacy Davis, to propel them to their inaugural title.
Eliminating last year’s finalist Tucville Primary 3-2 via penalty kicks in a humdinger of a fixture that saw normal and extra time conclude 1-1, West Ruimveldt will be pulling out all the stops as they attempt to clinch their first title.
With the perfect mix of physicality and skill, West Ruimveldt will once again look to the skillful Michael Oie in partnership with the hardworking pair of Dante Sookram and Rayon Jones to push them over the proverbial line.
Reeling from their disappointing semifinal exit, Tucville will look to end the event on a high note when they oppose a very capable East La Penitence unit in what promises to be an exciting and high scoring third place playoff matchup at 3.00 pm.
Led by the trio of DeAndre Linton, Rayheim Marques and Colwin Best, Tucville will look to dispose of their opponents when the match commences. However standing in their way and more than capable of creating the upset for the East La Penitence side will be the talented duo of Fabian Boters and Leroy Sealey.
In the earlier rounds, Redeemer Primary will battle St Ambrose in the 15-16 positional fixture while Ketley Primary will take on JE Burnham in the 13-14 positional showdown.
At 1.00 pm, Marian Academy will engage St Stephen’s in the battle for positions 11-12 whilst South Ruimveldt will lock horns with North Georgetown for positions 9-10.
St Margaret’s will oppose Enterprise Primary in a battle for the 7-8 positions while FE Pollard will try to overcome St Gabriel’s in their 5-6 positional showdown at 2.00 pm.
The tourney is being sponsored by the Petra Organisation/Courts Guyana in collaboration with Banks DIH Limited.
