The Ministry of Education is pleased with the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) scores recorded by the North West Secondary School and celebrated at its graduation ceremony held on Friday.
Reshma Armogan earned four grade ones, four grade twos and two grade threes and was adjudged the Best Overall Student of Region One, a report from the Education Ministry said. Julia Latchmenarine was awarded the Best Visual Arts prize.
In his address at the graduation ceremony, Head Master Malcolm Marcus charged the students to aim for greater achievements, even as he thanked the administrative staff and teachers for their role in the students’ success.
“To our graduating students, I wish to congratulate all of you on your various successes and wish you the very best in all your future endeavours. Go into the world of work and make us proud. Advance your qualifications at higher institutions of learning. In all you do, ensure that you use your discretion and remember to consider the feelings of others and respect them,” he said.
Echoing comments made recently by Education Minister Priya Manickchand, Coordinator of School Boards Melcita Bovell said the recent stellar outcomes at the CSEC and other exams are a result of investments and partnerships made in the education sector.
“Today the Government of Guyana spends $28B on education in an effort to further strengthen the sector, so as to considerably enhance the quality of our human capital and to assist in our overall productivity as a nation,” she said. “Secondary education is on the verge of being that extremely highly successful story,” Bovell added.
