The 24th annual end of year Kashif and Shanghai football tournament has garnered further support with Mohammed’s Enterprise donating 44 pairs of uniforms towards the successful hosting of the organization’s two-day coaching seminar billed for today and tomorrow.
Presented at a simple handing over ceremony at the entity’s Vlissingen Road office, the uniforms will be worn by the respective participants during the corresponding technical and practical sessions of the seminar.
The seminar, which is being conducted in an effort to level the playing field before the December 8 commencement of the secondary schools tournament, will commence today at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue from 21:00hrs.
Representatives from all 24 competing schools will be attending the sessions while an additional 20 individuals from schools that will not be featured in the competition will also be participating, the organizers said yesterday. The seminar is set to conclude tomorrow at the same venue. Jamal Shabazz, Coach of the Trinidad and Tobago outfit Caledonia AIA and former Golden Jaguars coach who received the uniforms yesterday said: “On behalf of the coaches’ seminar, we want to thank Mohammed’s Enterprise for partnering with the Kashif and Shanghai Organization for the Chico Secondary Schools tournament.”
He added: “It’s so important that the coaches have a cohesive approach. This is the future of Guyana’s football and one wonders if a tournament of this magnitude was held when Charles Pollard, Nigel Codrington and Collie Hercules were young where Guyana’s football would be?
“Personally I always believe in uniformity and for a seminar for school teachers it’s not different. The discipline starts with our appearance and our approach,” added Shabazz.
