Dear Editor,
The Demerara Harbour Bridge Authority ‘s scrapping of the collection of tickets on the western side might not have been the best decision.
I frequently cross the bridge and today I observed motorists paying to cross and then driving off without waiting to collect a ticket. In fact the ticket was not even printed.
I drove to the booth, paid a hundred dollars and drove off. The machine appeared not to have been fed the necessary information to print the ticket. This is likely a recent occurrence.
I would urge the reintroduction of surrendering tickets on the western end of the bridge as this would ensure proper accountability and less temptation for our hard-working staff members.
Yours faithfully,
