The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) has arranged four goodwill matches scheduled to be played in Guyana with Ontario Cricket Association (OCA) commencing from November 17 to 20.
According to a press release, the Canadians will be in action in a 40-overs-a-side match against Enmore Cricket Club at the Enmore ground on November 17 starting at 11am while on November 18 they will take on Everest Cricket Club in a T20 match at Everest ground from 1pm.
On November 19, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) will host the OCA team in a T20 match at GCC ground from 1pm followed by their November 20 encounter in another T20 match against Albion at Port Mourant ground, Berbice starting at 12.30 hours.
The OCA is embarking on an ambitious cricket tour where the best Ontario players available are traveling to Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago for a 10-day tour. The team will depart Toronto tomorrow and return home on November 24.
This tour is aimed to expose the talent of Ontario with their counterparts in the Caribbean and the OCA is extremely thankful to a number of their Sponsors whose generosity made it all possible, especially The Scotia Bank.
According to the release, the OCA is grateful to the Consulate General of Guyana Honorable Sattie Sawh and the Consulate General of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. Vidya Maharaj for their unprecedented cooperation in arranging visas for the players at very short notice.
These personnel have also helped with local arrangements as well. The Ministry of Sports in Guyana is also assisting with the local arrangements and for this the OCA said that they are extremely appreciative.
The OCA would also like to record its thanks to Suruj Ragoonath, CEO TT Cricket Board and Raj Singh, President of Demerara Cricket Board of Guyana for their contribution in making this tour a reality and said that they trust that this tour would serve to generate great excitement and anticipation with the competitive matches arranged by those executives in support of their respective countries.
The OCA said its team was looking forward to a wonderful trip which they hope will forge greater ties and generate lots of goodwill between Canada, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago in a competitive, friendly and educational environment.
