The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League continues today with eight fixtures to be played at four venues across the country.
The feature fixture of round six will see a top-of-the-table clash between league leaders Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United and joint third place occupants Milerock FC at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden from 8pm.
Perfect throughout their campaign with 15 points from five matches, Alpha, led by their quartet of Anthony `Awo’ Abrams,
Gregory Richardson, Manasseh Primo and Dwight Peters will look to continue their dominant ways when opening whistle sounds.
Standing currently on 10 points, Milerock will look to collective performance led by their trident of Mark Moses, Clarence Huggins and Denzil Fordyce to fashion the upset victory come kick off time.
Milerock FC coach Bryan Joseph during a pre-match comment said “We have played Alpha a few times and while we have not beaten them before, the team is prepared to create an upset. It’s a mental thing why we have never beaten them, the players normally use to go into their shell and give them too much respect”.
“I believe it’s going to be a low scoring game where the winner will be determined by one or two moments,” added Joseph.
Wayne Dover, coach of Alpha United in an invited comment said:“Preparation has been going well. While the response this week was not excellent, it was good and I am satisfied as we got to put in the work we wanted to do leading into the game.
“Our expectation is always the same. It’s about the three points. While accumulating goals is great for the goal difference, our objective is always about the three points,” added Dover.
In the opening game of the doubleheader, Silver Shattas will tackle Winners Connections from 6pm. Over at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in Bourda, the feature showdown of the slated triple header will see Santos FC locking horns BK Western Tigers at 8pm.
In the mid-card matchup at 6pm, Den Amstel Porknockers will face off with Riddim Squad while the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will tackle Winners Connection in the opening game at 4pm.
At the No.5 ground in the West Coast of Berbice, New Amsterdam United will face off with Grove Hi-Tech at 5pm while Rosignol United will battle Buxton FC at 7pm.
The lone fixture at the Beterverwagting (BV) ground will see home side BV/Triumph United opposing Mahaica Determinators at 3,30pm.
