A stray catcher attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs was placed on $80,000 bail yesterday after he denied being one of 10 persons who assaulted a man.
It is alleged that on November 15, at James Street, Albouystown, Colin Peters took a beer bottle and hit Derrick Norton. Peters, 20, of 134 Victoria Street, Albouystown, denied the accusation, when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Norton told the court that he was attacked by 10 individuals. “Was ten ah dem attacked meh…. One lash me from behind wid a gun and he [referring to Peters] lash meh wid a beer bottle. He is the only one caught so far,” he said.
Peters, who was previously charged with armed robbery although it was eventually dismissed, was subsequently placed on $80,000 bail by Magistrate Latchman.
He is due to return to court on November 27 at Court One.
