The Berbice Bridge Company Inc (BBCI) on Friday donated three trophies for the winners of the Comforting Hearts Primary School Art Competition.
A release from the company said BCCI was pleased to respond to a request from the school for the donation of prizes since the art competition, held on November 16, 2013, was organised as part of an effort to prevent abuse and violence against children.
It said that abuse and violence against children are problems in all regions of the country, the Caribbean and the world at large; that crossed racial and socioeconomic lines.
Apart from collecting tolls and facilitating vehicles to cross the Berbice River Bridge and vessels to transit through the retractor span and under the high span, the BBCI also discharges its corporate social responsibilities.
In the past, the company has sponsored many cultural, educational and sports events that benefited communities on both sides of the bridge, and in other coastal and interior regions.
