Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee is said to be returning to his post by Monday November 25.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon told reporters yesterday that Rohee would be returning to his desk, but did not divulge any further details pertaining to the minister’s illness and why he has been missing from his post since November 7.
Earlier in the week, Rohee, who is also the General Secretary of the PPP, was scheduled to speak
at the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative meeting on regional security issues.
However, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, who Luncheon said was acting for Rohee, was present to give the address.
The CBSI’s opening ceremony was on Monday, the day that Rohee had been scheduled to fly to the US to undergo further tests for his as yet undisclosed medical condition. He subsequently pushed back his travel arrangements, according to a source, but it was uncertain if Rohee had to reschedule because of his illness.
On November 7, Rohee was admitted to the Woodlands Hospital after feeling ill in the morning and under the advice of his doctor.
He was held for five days under observation before being discharged on Tuesday last. Because of his hospital stay Rohee was absent from the sitting of the National Assembly and also did not attend the past two cabinet meetings held weekly on Tuesdays.
