(Trinidad Express) – A one year old baby boy who was reported kidnapped by a close male relative was discovered dead in a cesspit behind the relative’s home in St Joseph on Wednesday.
The tiny body of Jacob Munroe was fished out of the cesspit around 2.30 pm – two hours after he was reported kidnapped by the 27-year-old relative.
According to a police report, around 12.30 pm the relative went to the St Joseph Police Station and reported that three men abducted the infant from his home at Santa Rita Trace, Lluengo Village, Maracas,
He told police that the kidnappers were armed with guns when they entered his home.
The relative reported that the kidnappers told him they came for a gun that he was hiding for another person.
The relative told police he replied that he did not know of any firearm, and the kidnappers began to torture him.
The relative said the men forced him to cut his left wrist with the knife and then drink kerosene.
The kidnappers them grabbed little Jacob and escaped on foot with him.
The male relative was taken for treatment at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he is warded.
Police officers visited the relative’s house and after conducting a search of the premises found the child dead in the cesspit.
