The second day of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) three-day trial match was yesterday washed out following overnight showers which left the Everest Cricket Ground in a swampy state.
The first day of the trials saw Christopher Barnwell’s XI amassing 358 for 9 at stumps against the Leon Johnson led XI.
The West Indies and Guyana all-rounder Barnwell smashed an unbeaten 105 from less than 80 deliveries with five fours and seven sixes.
He was supported by Chris Pattandin who struck an aggressive 93 decorated with 13 fours and two sixes while opener Trevon Griffith made 53.
Other useful knocks came from wicketkeeper/batsman Derwin Christian who scored 37 and opener Rajendra Chandrika (27).
Former Under-15 spinner Totaram Bishun was the standout performer with the ball. The orthodox left-arm bowler caused all sorts of trouble for the batsmen with the new ball ending with figures of 3 for 94 from 16 overs.
The third and final day of the trial match is set for today.
The annual Inter County competition is scheduled to bowl of on November 28.
