People’s Progressive Party/Civic, Member of Parliament (MP), Bibi Shadick today visited Sasha Bharrat of Block 8, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara to hand over a laptop thorough the One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) Programme, GINA reported.
The parents of the ten- year old expressed heartfelt gratitude to Shadick for her initiative. Sasha is suffering from Ichthyosis, a rare, incurable skin disease.
Her plight was highlighted in the November 17 Sunday Stabroek. She had told this newspaper that her only wish is to “get an education,” but she is prevented from doing so because she suffers from a rare condition that speeds her skin cell turnover, causing the top layer to shed six times faster than in a normal person. She has not been able to go to school as a result and has a very difficult existence.
