BK Western Tigers led by a Hubert Pedro hat trick defeated New Amsterdam United 3-1 when action in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Premier League continued on Sunday at the No.5 community ground in Berbice.
A skilfully worked passing combination between Stellon David, Joshua Britton and Pedro would lead to the opening goal in the 20th minute. Latching onto the final through pass from David inside the penalty box, Pedro would strike his effort under the on-rushing keeper to the bottom of the net.
Kelvin Joseph would equalize for the Berbice side in the 38th minute with a sublime left-footed strike into the roof of the net from inside the box after evading his marker.
The resumption of the second period would see Pedro doubling his tally in the 50th minute. Tasked with taking a resulting left-sided corner kick, Pedro would latch onto the cleared spot kick only before curling his effort into the back of net.
Pedro would seal the win and his hat trick 20 minutes later with a well- taken penalty kick to the lower right hand side following a rash challenge on Darren Benjamin inside the penalty area.
In the opening fixture, Rosignol United edged Santos FC 5-4 on sudden death kicks from the penalty mark following a tied 1-1 and 4-4 score line at the end of normal time and kicks from the penalty mark respectively.
Delroy Fraser opened the scoring for the winners in the 19th minute while Anthony Abrams found the back of the net in the 90th+4 minute for the losers.
Over at the Den Amstel community ground, Mahaica Determinators defeated home side Den Amstel Porknockers 2-1. In the opening fixture, Grove Hi-Tech edged Young Achievers by a 2-1 score line.
At the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) defeated Milerock 2-1 while in the opening fixture, Silver Shattas squeaked past Buxton United 5-4 from kicks from the penalty mark following a nil-all score line at the end of normal time.
