National middle-order batsman Vishal Singh was yesterday named skipper of the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) President’s XI 14-man team ahead of the Senior Inter-county four-day tournament which bowls off on Thursday.
Singh will have opening batsman Shemroy Barrington as his deputy and will lead a team featuring former Test batsman Ryan Ramdass, opener Robin Bacchus, all-rounder Shaquille Williams, Berbice wicket-keeper/batsman Jason Sinclair, Dominique Rikhi, Seon Hetemeyer, the older brother of West Indies under-19 batsman Shimron and all-rounder Romario Shepherd.
The team also includes a trio of quality fast bowlers the likes of Kellon Carmichael, Seon Daniels and Andre Stoll along with slow bowlers, U-19 leg-spinner Steven Sankar and the experienced Collis Butts.
Former national all-rounder Esuan Crandon is the team’s coach, while former national fast bowler Robert “Pacer” Adonis is the manager.
Meanwhile, defending champs Demerara named their squad led by left-handed batsman Leon Johnson and in-form all-rounder Christopher Barnwell as the vice-captain.
The squad also includes experienced middle-order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan, opener Trevon Griffith, all-rounder Steven Jacobs, wicket-keeper Derwin Christian along with newcomers, fast-bowler Randy Knights and batsman Chris Patandin.
