A prime plot of land, located between the Guyana Stores and Courts buildings on Main Street, Georgetown is up for sale and the public might soon see another mega store on Main Street as the land is attracting serious interest.
The notice of sale was published in yesterday’s edition of the state-owned Guyana Chronicle newspaper.
Owned by Republic Bank, the Lot 24 Main Street location will be sold through public tendering. It is currently rented to the Kissoon’s Furniture Store, which has on sale a variety of household items displayed under a tent there.
Officials of Kissoon’s told Stabroek News yesterday that they were unaware of the sale but would now be looking at the possibility of purchasing the land since they need a key downtown location. At Courts, an official said that they were informed about the sale and they too are considering the purchase.
The advertisement states that Plot ‘A,’ being a portion of Lot 24 Main Street, totals approximately 20,415 square feet.
Tender forms can be uplifted at any of Republic Bank’s countrywide locations. All tenders must be sealed in an envelope marked “Tender for Land” and placed in the tender box located at Republic Bank’s Camp and Robb streets branch no later than 2pm next Tuesday, Decem-ber 3rd, 2013. Additional information on the sale can be had by calling Tyrone Tyrell on telephone number 2252916 Ext 274.
However, yesterday when Stabroek News tried making contact with Tyrell to seek information, it was told by a Ms Munroe that he was out of office for the day and that questions asked could only be answered by executives of the bank.
