A Wauna, North West District man was recently murdered in neighbouring Venezuela but the suspect, a Guyanese national, had to be released as the crime occurred in another jurisdiction and the police are yet to receive the relevant information.
Confirmed dead is Gordon Mc Lennon, whose body was returned to his home community by relatives and buried. Reports are that the killing was sparked by the theft of raw gold
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud yesterday told Stabroek News that the dead man’s relatives went to Venezuela on hearing of the murder and brought his body back to Guyana. He said that based on the information provided, police detectives arrested the suspect in Guyana.
However, Persaud explained that local police have since released the man as there has been no response to a request sent to Caracas via Interpol for information on the case. He pointed out too that the murder occurred in another jurisdiction.
Stabroek News was unable to make contact with Mc Lennon’s relatives.
