The Guyana Beverage Company Incorporated and manufacturer of the Busta soda on Thursday put $1.5M into the 9th edition of the Essequibo Cricket Board’s (ECB) 50 overs-a-side cricket festival knock-out tournament set for December 13-15.
Eight area teams including Wakenaam, Leguan, East Bank Essequibo, Bartica, Pomeroon, North, South and Central Essequibo will be vying for the huge cash purse and bragging rights, with the final set for the Imam Bacchus ground, Affiance, Essequibo Coast.
PR Officer of the Essequibo board, Nazeer Mohamed, lauded the Guyana Beverage Company for being the largest sponsor of cricket in Essequibo and expressed that he was optimistic about continued support, at the launching ceremony held at the company’s Diamond, East Bank head office. President of the ECB Fizul Bacchus thanked the company for its support saying that the tournament has done well for cricket in the county over the years.
