Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon announced on Wednesday that Cabinet had no objections to eight contracts, including one valued $49.9M to procure generators to supply electricity in regions One and Eight.
The generators are for the Mahdia and Port Kaituma power systems, Luncheon said at his post-Cabinet press briefing on Wednesday, according to the Government Information Agency (GINA). He also announced that a tender valued $135.9M was green-lighted for the docking and rehabilitation of the MV Makouria, in the public works sector.
In the health sector, no objections were offered to a US$124,000 contract for the servicing of general electric health equipment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. A tender valued $21.7M was also green-lighted for the provision of security services at the hospital.
In the housing and water sector, a tender valued $107.5M was green-lighted for the supply and construction of a potable water well at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
Luncheon also announced that a $123.8M tender for the provision of consultancy services for the design and supervision of works on access roads in regions Three, Four and Five has been green-lighted.
In sports, a $69.8M contract for land-filling and landscaping works at the synthetic track and field facility at Leonora, Region Three was given the go-ahead. A contract valued $17.2M, at the same site, was also okayed.
