A Rose Hall teen is currently battling for his life in the intensive care unit of the New Amsterdam Hospital after he was stabbed several times on Friday night.
Amzad Zaikeer Singh, 19, of 60 Chapel Street Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice was attacked by three young men whilst on his way to the shop.
Amzad’s mother Tajwattie Singh, told Stabroek News that she sent her son to purchase chicken from Spready’s Café at around 7.30pm, and that some time later she got a message that her son was at the hospital because “somebody bore he up.”
She said she immediately rushed to the Port Mourant hospital to see her son who told her, “Is dem same boys beat me up.” She related that her son said that while he was on his way to the Café the boys pulled him to a lonely corner and started to beat him as well as stabbing him three or four times.
The mother said that it was an uncle guarding a store nearby who carried her son who was bleeding profusely to the hospital.
Singh said that the reference Amzad made to the “same three boys” related to an altercation her son and his friend had with one of them that resulted in him receiving a burst head. The mother said that she had not taken the matter to court believing that the incident would have ended there.
