Two men were robbed by armed bandits who escaped with a quantity of gold, shooting one of the victims in the process.
According to a police press release, on Sunday, Francis McPherson, 38, of Lime Street, Georgetown, and Eon Bourne, 30, of Port Kaituma, North West District, were travelling on an ATV along the trail at Hymakuru Backdam, Port Kaituma, when they were held up by two men armed with handguns.
During the armed robbery Bourne was shot and injured to his right thigh by the perpetrators who took away a quantity of gold and escaped, police said. Investigations are in progress.
