Barber Randy Bobb, the man accused of last week’s $1.2M car wash robbery in which a taxi-driver was shot, was yesterday charged with two counts of armed robbery.
Bobb, 22, was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
It is the police’s case that on December 3, at Stone’s Car Wash on Mandela Avenue, Bobb robbed taxi driver Fenton Duncan and businesswoman Sherry Ramroop.
Bobb, who was not required to plead to the charges, allegedly stole a pistol, a gold chain valued at $320,000, a gold band valued at $560,000 and two rings valued at $240,000 from Duncan and a gold jingle, worth $80,000, from Ramroop.
According to police, Both Duncan and Ramroop were at the car wash waiting to have their cars washed when Bobb is alleged to have entered and confronted them. He then demanded that Duncan hand over his gold jewellery and after he retrieved it he demanded her gold jingle. It was at that time, Duncan, who had his licensed pistol on him, attempted to pull it out but Bobb, who also had a gun, turned on Duncan and shot him. Duncan then fell to the ground and Bobb picked up Duncan’s gun and ran off.
Sometime after, police acted on information, apprehended Bobb, who was later picked out in an identification parade. Bobb was then arrested and charged.
Bobb was denied bail and remanded to prison until January 9, 2014.
