Two Essequibo Coast men were fined $40,000 and $30,000 respectively yesterday when they appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court charged with separate traffic offences.
In the first case, Nandalall Sahadeo appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce charged with riding a motorcycle while his licence and insurance were expired.
It is alleged that on December 10, on Reliance Public Road, Sahadeo drove CG 5512 while his licence and insurance were expired. He pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him and later after some deliberation changed his plea to guilty. Sahadeo was subsequently fined $30,000 for driving with expired insurance and $10,000 for driving with an expired licence.
In the second case Chandu Singh appeared before the same magistrate charged with driving an uninsured vehicle.
It is alleged that on December 9 on the Anna Regina access road, Singh drove motor vehicle GRR 8552 without having insurance for the vehicle.
Magistrate Scarce fined him $30,000.
