D’Edward Cricket Club last Sunday defeated Bath in the final of the inaugural 2013 Norman Singh Memorial second division 20-overs-a-side cricket competition in Berbice.
Played at the Bath Ground, D’Edward won the toss, batted first and scored 128 for 7.
Openers Devendra Lalsa (21) and Lakeraj Sookra (19) along with former Berbice all-rounder Eon Abel (17) were the principal scorers.
Bowling for Bath off-spinner Ravi Gossai took 3 for 24 from and Vinod Ramjattan 2 for 24 from 4.
Seeking 129 for victory Bath slid to an embarrassing 30 all out in 14.1 overs.
Christian France bagged 4-7 while Navin Rampersaud 2-11, Abel 1 for 7, Lalsa 1-5 and Brian Roopnarine who picked up a wicket from his first delivery and ended with 1-0 were the wicket takers. France was adjudged Man-of-the-Match.
D’Edward uplifted the winning trophy and $20,000 while Bath received $10,000.
