A pork-knocker, hailing from the North West District, was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged with murdering his own brother.
Neville France was brought to the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he stood accused of the December 12, 2013 murder of Richard France, his brother.
According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, the brothers shared a home in the North West District. On December 12, he said, Neville went to a neighbour’s house to drink and was later joined by his brother.
It was reported that Richard and the neighbour became embroiled in a row over a hammer. The hammer had been reportedly loaned by Neville to the neighbour. During the argument, Richard was reportedly assaulted by the neighbour but he left and returned home.
Jones said Richard was sitting outside of his home when Neville approached and confronted him. Jacob France, their father, had been cooking in the kitchen when he saw Neville approach the Richard, who was attempting to walk away when he was dealt a stab in his back by his brother. He managed to run to a nearby roadway and collapsed.
After the police had been called in, the accused reportedly admitted in writing to the crime. He, with the assistance of his father, recovered the knife used in the murder of his brother, Jones added.
After being remanded by Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan, Neville France was ordered to return to court today, December 19.
