A five-year-old girl has been reported missing after her father left her in the care of an adult yesterday.
Oddele Lyken, who lives at Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara with her parents, had been taken to the Stabroek Market by her father who vends there. The girl’s father, Rudolph Lyken related that since school is out of session he takes his daughter with him each day. He said he left Oddele at about 06:10 hrs in the care of a 26-year-old man who is known to him. When he returned about an hour and a half later his daughter was not around. Enquiring about her whereabouts, he was informed by the assigned caretaker that the girl had left to use the washroom. However, the child did not return.
In an attempt to locate his missing child, Lyken checked with several police stations including the Brickdam station and the Parika station. The girl, Lyken informed, would normally be left in the care of an elderly person but the usual person was not been present yesterday. Lyken insisted that his daughter was not one to wander off.
Oddele was last seen in the vicinity of the Stabroek Market and was wearing a brown flowered skirt and a long-sleeved burgundy top. Persons with any information on the missing child’s whereabouts are urged to make contact with the girl’s parents at 673
