Kurt Clarke, who was accused of stabbing a former football player, Jamal Fernandes for using a gay slur against him was committed to stand trial in the High Court, after Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry ruled on Monday that a prima facie case was made out against him.
Clarke, who is a taxi driver, was arraigned on September 4 for stabbing Fernandes called “Gaga” of Lot 14 West La Penitence Housing Scheme. According to a police report read in court, Fernandes was stabbed after having an argument with Clarke, as he was making his way from Baroombar Club on North Road.
Clarke who resides at 1159 Pigeon Place, South Ruimveldt, will face a judge and jury next year.
