A man who claimed that the cannabis he was found with was to deal with his asthma will instead be allowed to work out the asthma in 30 hours of community service.
Mark Blackman, who appeared brought before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with possession of narcotics, was fined $3,000 and given 30 hours of community service at the Brickdam Police Station by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty. He pleaded guilty to possessing 2 grammes of cannabis on Tuesday December 24 at Water Street.
According to Paul Fung-A-Fat, the man’s lawyer, his client is asthmatic and uses the narcotic for medicinal purposes.
Fung-A-Fat then requested that Blackman be given community service to “work out the asthma”.
