(Jamaica Gleaner) Head of the Area One Police, Assistant Commissioner Warren Clarke, says everything will be done in its power to bring the killers of a 20-year-old St James woman and her four-month old child to justice.
The victim’s spouse, who is also believed to be the father of the child, has been arrested and is being questioned in connection to the murders.
The body of the woman, Melessha Evans and her four-month old son, Jeliana Evans, were found along the Irwin main road in St James about 11:00 on Wednesday morning.
Her throat had been slashed and her head partially severed, while the child’s body was found in a sewage treatment tank.
However, the police are asking people who may have witnessed the murder to assist by giving information.
ACP Clarke has assured that a top level probe will be carried out into the murders.
He has heaped condemnation on the killings and says he is concerned about the level of crimes being committed against the most vulnerable in society, particularly women and children.
He is urging communities to use resolution skills to settle disputes and says the police is also willing to assist citizens through its proactive violence intervention strategy.
Anyone with information that may assist with solving the murders is being asked to contact the Freeport Criminal Investi-gation Branch at 953-6191, Police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
