Kuru-Kururu Warriors edged Diamond United 4-3 on penalty kicks after normal time finished 5-5 when the East Bank Football Association (EBFA)/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport knockout tournament continued on Sunday.
Played at the Grove Community centre ground, Nathaniel Paul opened the scoring for Diamond with a 10th minute conversion. He would double his side’s lead with a 15th minute effort. It soon became 3-0 as Daniel Angoy found the back of the net with a 20th minute strike.
Ryan Scott would pull one back for Kuru-Kururu, opening his account with a 25th minute conversion. The deficit would be reduced to one before the halftime interval as Scott grabbed his brace with a 38th minute strike.
Diamond would restore their two-goal advantage when Paul sealed his hat trick with a 60th minute shot. Nandy Johnson would reduce Diamond’s lead to one once more as he netted five minutes later for the Warriors.
Kuru-Kururu would level proceedings as Scott completed his hat-trick through a 75th minute goal. Diamond would retake the lead as Shawn Angoy etched his name on the scorer’s sheet three minutes later.
The fixture would be pushed into extra time as Cordell Johnson grabbed the timely equalizer for the Warriors with an 85th minute goal. Unable to be separated during the 10 minutes of the extra time interval, Kuru-Kururu would prevail in the resulting penalty shoot-out.
