A man accused of stealing from his own grandmother was placed on bail when he appeared before a city court yesterday.
Jason Prince, 21, of 70 Bent Street, Wortmanville, pleaded not guilty to the charge that alleged that he, on January 6, stole $20,000 and two cellphones from his grandmother, Janet Prince.
The woman stated that though the two cellphones had been recovered, the money was still missing.
According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, several similar reports had been made before. The prosecutor objected to bail based on the fact that since the defendant and the virtual complainant share a home, the accused might interfere with her. The unemployed man was nevertheless granted bail in the sum of $40,000. He is set to return to court on January 17.
