Justice Navindra Singh is set to rule on a no-case submission made by the defence for the four accused in the Windsor Forest murder trial on Monday.
Counsel for the defence, Attorney Glen Hanoman and Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos made the submissions in the absence of the jury yesterday.
Bibi Farida Khan, Shamiza Khan, called ‘Sham’, Hoosman Khan, called ‘Strong Man’, and Bisoondial Mahadeo, called ‘Weed Man’, all of Windsor Forest, are on trial before Justice Singh and a 12-member jury for the murder of overseas-based Guyanese Motilall Singh at Windsor Forest. The bloodied body of Singh was found close to a tiny bridge at Second Street, Windsor Forest in September, 2009.
A fifth person, Ayube Hamid, called ‘Little,’ was also charged with the murder but he died while in prison.
Government Patholo-gist Dr Nehaul Singh also testified that the deceased sustained 20 stab wounds and that given the extent of the injuries he would not have lived for more than five to ten minutes. Dr Singh was also shown the knife suspected to be the murder weapon and he said it was possible that it could have caused the wounds he observed on the deceased’s body.
Hanoman is appearing for Mahadeo, while De Santos is appearing for the other three accused. Senior State Counsel Judith Gildharie-Mursalin is presenting the state’s case.
