A plane heading to the interior crashed on take-off at the Ogle International Airport this morning leaving one woman seriously injured.
The plane, a Cessna 206 bearing registration number 8RMML, belongs to Phoenix Airways. “During the course of the take-off it came back down onto the runway and veered off to the left and…eventually flipped over on its back,” airport spokesman Kit Nascimento told reporters.
The airport’s first response team went into immediate action, he said. Stabroek News was told that the doors of the aircraft had to be pried open to free the passengers and pilot. The plane was heading to Mahdia with the pilot and three passengers on board. The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.
