Dear Editor,
As the PPP ship sinks, its General Secretary’s letter dated January 11 on Sunday Stabroek’s editorial, had the tone and style of an orchestra that fiddles away for dear life in the final moments of the Titanic. What incredulous hilarity?
He used phrases like “put [the party’s] foot down” and even surrendered to baseless name-calling. Editor, what was Mr Rohee’s intention? To confuse the readers? What was Mr Rohee doing when he composed that piece of rubbish?
I want to put on record my congratulations to Stabroek News especially Mr Anand Persaud and Ms Anna Benjamin for keeping the flame of freedom of speech alive and not allowing these politicians to succeed with their crude tactics at dominating and destroying the spirit of the nation.
It would serve Mr Rohee better to investigate the character and ethics of his President, especially in light of ‘backballgate.’ It was Albert Schweitzer who said “Ethics is the activity of man directed to secure the inner perfection of his own personality.”
Finally as a practising Hindu, I want to hear the views of the Pandits and especially the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha on ‘backballgate.’ I have consulted some from that fraternity in North America and the response is damming against the PPP. So Mr Rohee clearly is living on another planet, since he has lost contact with the political sentiments of the Hindus, the working class, the farmers and the poor. This is not the time to cover up this public shame; this is the time to oppose, expose and depose at the polls in a free and fair election.
Yours faithfully,
Sasenarine Singh
