Alleged baton assault victim had ‘incarcerated hernia’ – Health Minister
Minister of Health Dr Bheri Ramsaran this afternoon said that prisoner Colwyn Harding underwent surgery for an “incarcerated hernia” and it was discovered that lengths of his bowel were “gangrenous” and later there serious complications developed including “septic conditions within the abdomen”.
111 suicides last year – police
The police today issued the following statement. “Cognisant of a publication in the Guyana Times of today Thursday January 16, 2014, under the caption “Suicide claimed 82 lives on Essequibo Coast in 2013”, in which it was stated that the statistics were in keeping with records at the Suddie Hospital, the Guyana Police Force wishes to state that the police records reveal that for 2013 there was a total of 111 suicides countrywide, with 9 occurring in Essequibo.
