Dear Editor,
The story of Colwyn Harding and the alleged brutality against him by the police must be the most sickening story I’ve read since that of the teenager whose genitals were burnt by police ranks. I sincerely hope that justice will take a swift course. But that is not why I’m writing.
I’m writing to appeal to the Government of Guyana ‒ regardless of the circumstances which led to Mr Harding’s current state ‒ to facilitate immediate overseas medical attention for him which should be paid for by the state from the taxpayer dollars paid by me and the other citizens of this country. All of his costs including flights, accommodation and meals and an accompanying family member, the colostomy bags he requires, etc, should be covered.
If this is not done immediately, I would lose every ounce of faith I have in Guyana, not just in its government. And I would not be alone.
Yours faithfully,
