Mother Nature has again forced the postponement of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 48th anniversary rugby tournament.
The tournament which was scheduled to kick off in November but was postponed due to inclement weather was again pushed back indefinitely yesterday because of the soggy Camp Ayanganna Playfield due to recent showers.
When the sevens tournament eventually kicks off, it will see the all the clubs affiliated to the union (Caribs, Hornets, UG Wolves and GDF) vying for the champion’s trophy.
The women’s National Ruggers will be on show also as the GRFU continues to push for the development of Female Rugby.
The objective of the competition was to get the competitive juices of the players flowing again.
The ruggers of the GDF team are currently on a tear, having captured all the three sevens championships for 2013, defeating UG Wolves and Hornets RFC respectively with Caribs failing to make any of the finals.
