Grove Hi-Tech overcame Timehri Panthers 3-1 in their semi-final matchup when the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/East Bank Football Association Knockout tournament continued on Tuesday at the Grove Community ground.
Hubert Adams stunned the home side as he pushed the visitors into the lead with a 16th minute conversion. The resulting
score line would hold through as Timehri went into halftime with their lead intact.
The fixture would prove to be game of two halves as forward and captain Domini Garnett levelled the score line with a 59th minute effort. The home side would take the lead for the first time in the encounter as Garnett completed his double with a 63rd strike.
He would complete his hat trick three minutes later as Grove sealed the come from behind victory to book their final’s berth. Due to their defeat, Timehri Panthers will claim the third place position.
Grove Hi-Tech will now face off with Kuru-Kuru Warriors who were the recipients of a bye in the semi-final stage at the same venue on the Sunday January 19th doubleheader. In the battle for fourth position, Soesdyke Falcons will face off with Diamond United in the opening fixture.
Victorious coach, Jermin Alves during a post-match comment said “It was a good game, at the start of the game we didn’t play well but after that we played excellent”.
Questioned about his thoughts on the upcoming finale, Alves said “It should be a nice game and we should be outstanding again”.
