A Sophia man was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged in a city court with robbing a woman in her home using a cutlass.
Junior Kenny, 23, denied that on January 13, 2014, at North East La Penitence, in the company of another, he stole from Fiona Halley a Samsung Galaxy phone, valued $120,000, a Galaxy Tablet, valued $79,000, a television, valued $80,000 and headphones, among other items,
which were the property of Una Halley. H
It is the police’s case that Kenny and others went broke into the Halley home at 12:30am. After entering the house, according to Prosecutor Bharat Mangru, Kenny, armed with a cutlass, then held up Halley and ordered her to a bedroom and proceeded to rob her.
Mangru further stated that some items were recovered in a North East La Penitence Squatting Area home, where Halley was.
Mangru objected to Kenny being granted bail on the grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry subsequently remanded Kenny to prison. The case will be heard again on February 7.
