A police constable was yesterday admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he was shot by two men who had robbed him.
According to the police, at about 05:35 hrs Police Constable 14716 Kirk Profitt was walking along Bent Street, Georgetown, when he was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
The perpetrators took away his wallet along with $10,000 and his cell phone. They then observed his police badge in his wallet and shot him to his abdomen, before escaping on bicycles.
Profitt has since been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the GPH.
Investigations are in progress.
