The wreckage of what is believed to be a Trans Guyana Airways (TGA) plane that went down close to Olive Creek, Middle Mazaruni yesterday has been spotted, Minister of Transport Robeson Benn says.
“We have sighted the aircraft,” he told Stabroek News while adding that army Special Forces soldiers are on their way to the site. He said that this was about 4.3 km away from Olive Creek. He declined to say whether they had observed any sign of life. Within two hours there would be a clearer idea of this, the minister said.
The TGA plane went missing after going down shortly after take-off from the Olive Creek, Region Seven airstrip on Saturday. The aircraft, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan was piloted by Canadian national Blake Slater with cargo handler Dwayne Jacobs on board.
