Correction

Dear Editor,

I refer to my column, ‘Righting the wrongs: the role of the Ombudsman,’ (SN, January 18) in which I inadvertently stated that the role of the Ombudsman was enshrined in our Constitution in 1996.

The line should have read: “The Ombudsman is considered one of the essential institutions that a Constitution should possess. On this score, we have been progressive–the Office of an Ombudsman was enshrined in our Constitution in 1966—albeit only on paper for the last nine years.”

Yours faithfully,

Iana Seales
