Dear Editor,
Two years ago there was a furore in some quarters when employees of the Guyana Energy Agency were being dismissed after allegedly failing a polygraph test. Since no recent dismissals have been reported, we can assume other employees are either receiving passing grades or the machine is lying idle.
Recently, another matter hit the headlines that shook every decent and caring Guyanese to the core. The Colwyn Harding matter is embarrassing to Guyanese at home and abroad with numerous questions being asked on the social networks.
While Commissioner Brumell is shouting from the hilltop that “Cops have denied baton rape” the ordinary citizen is cringing with despair. I don’t know if Mr Brumell expected a different response from his officers. The man-in-the-street didn’t. So what’s next?
Since the polygraph machine may be lying idle somewhere, why not subject the Timehri posse to a test which should be administered in the presence of an independent/neutral observer. After all we are trying to restore the image of the Guyana Police Force.
How about it, Commissioner?
Yours faithfully,
L Dunsford Dickson
