Tragedy struck once again on the Essequibo Coast around 9:40am yesterday when a three-year-old boy was knocked dead by a truck. Dead is Josiah Persaud of Lot 732 Charity Extension Housing Scheme.
According to reports, the truck, bearing number plate GPP 4626 was heading north through the first street of the Housing Scheme when the toddler ran into the path of the heavy-duty vehicle.
Persaud reportedly sustained injuries to his head and was rushed to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital, Charity where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
When Stabroek News visited the home of the dead boy, his mother was inconsolable.
The driver of the heavy-duty truck is in police custody assisting with investigations.
On Friday last, Muntaz Baksh, a Canada-based Guyanese and his adult son died after they were struck down by a car on the Public Road at Land of Plenty, Essequibo Coast.
