GDF Special Forces Officers arrived at the site of the wreckage of a Trans Guyana Airways plane this morning a little after 7 am and found both of its occupants Canadian pilot, Blake Slater and cargo handler Dwayne Jacobs dead.
The pilot was found in the seat of his Cessna 208B Grand Caravan.
A release today from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority said that the Special Forces team is continuing to clear a pad to extract the bodies for transportation.
The craft went missing on Saturday morning during a flight from Olive Creek in the Mazaruni to Imbaimadai. It was transporting mining supplies. An investigation into the cause of the crash is being conducted.
In a release this morning, TGA said that it “deeply regrets to confirm the loss of our Pilot, Captain Blake Slater and our Cargo Handler, Dwayne Jacobs, resulting from the crash of our Cessna Caravan Aircraft on Saturday last.”
It said that it will hold a Press Conference at 10:00 a.m tomorrow (Tuesday 21st January), in the Boardroom of the CAMS Hangar at Ogle Airport on the matter.
